One of the iconic and luxury automakers, Mercedes-Benz, has announced plans to expand its G-Class series, which is already equipped with a range of luxury and high-end models like the Maybach G650 Landaulet, 4x4 Squared, and Bonkers 6x6. However, the German automaker plans to launch a smaller and comparatively affordable version of the G Wagon SUV.

The brand will name the newly teased G-Class SUV the baby G-Wagon. The luxury car brand also unveiled that the new small G-Class will be part of the company's biggest product launch globally. The new name came to the public in Mercedes-Benz's recent investor presentation, aiming to extend the G-Class lineup.
Although very limited details are available about the upcoming baby G-Class, the upcoming Mercedes SUV is anticipated to retain its boxy shape and tough exterior profile similar to the classic G-Class, maintaining luxury with off-road capabilities. The German automaker will likely build its baby G-Class on Mercedes-Benz's Modular Architecture (MMA) platform, supporting electric and internal combustion powertrains. This architecture will allow baby G-Wagon to be configured with various engine options, including a fully electric powertrain.
As discussed, the flexibility of the MMA platform offers baby G-Class SUV features multiple powertrain options. With the increasing focus on electrification, Mercedes-Benz can offer a complete electric variant on its lineup, offering luxury SUV buyers a more affordable version of the electric G Wagon SUV. Moreover, the automaker will continue offering conventional internal combustion engine options.
According to sources, the upcoming baby G-Wagon SUV is anticipated to comprise the combination of legendary luxury and off-road capabilities in its compact body. With the urban-friendly and comparatively lower price, the German automaker aims to attract buyers looking to buy luxury SUVs at competitive prices.
The production and launch details of the baby G-Class SUV are yet to be revealed officially by Mercedes-Benz. However, it's confirmed that the plans will soon unveil this luxury SUV in the market for the global customer base.
